Jai Field has signed a new four-year contract with Wigan Warriors that will see him remain at the club until the end of the 2027 season.
The fullback player has gone from strength to strength as he becomes one of the most successful members of the team, scoring 43 tries in 59 match appearances.
26-year-old Field, an Australian player, first joined the club in 2021, and has gone on to become a staple of the team's regular line-up, which led to the contract being extended.
Field himself was thrilled with the new deal between himself and the club, paying tribute to the supporters for their unwavering backing.
He said in a statement following the confirmation: "I’m really pleased to be extending my stay here at Wigan. I’m very grateful that the Club and the fans have shown so much faith in me over the past few seasons. It really did make it an easy decision to extend.
Continuing on, Jai said: “I’ve enjoyed every minute of being here so far and I’m looking forward now. Hopefully, we are building towards something special with this group that the Club and coaches have put together and that really excites me to be hanging around."
Wigan's head coach Matt Peet said that Jai's new deal will only be beneficial for the club, and said it was "an excellent move" for the Warriors. He also said Field was an "outstanding player, and is an important part of what we are building".
He also said that Jai's success both on and off the pitch will hope to "inspire future generations" and help to bring a new wave of potential players into the game.
Wigan Warriors' Chief Executive, Kris Radlinski, admitted that Jai was one of his favourite sportsmen on the team, adding that the club and fans alike should not "take his excellence for granted".
"His skill level, speed, fitness and all-round ability are seriously impressive," he added. "I would say to Wigan fans to enjoy and cherish his ability as players like Jai do not come around very often."
