A-level advice for students across Greater Manchester
People will be receiving their college results today
Thousands of student across Greater Manchester and the country will be getting their a-level results this morning.
People are being advised to prepare, in case they don't get the results they want.
A report from the NSPCC has found 9 in 10 teachers believe their students overly worry about results.
Chris Randell, who is the principal of Abbey College in Manchester, has this advice: "Don't worry, don't panic, take your time, talk to people and see what is out there.
"Be wise, be sensible, you need to be quick but at the same time don't jump into anything because you are worried.
Regarding parents, Chris said it is important to give children their space as they navigate their next steps: "Don't put added pressure on them, let them do some research, let them talk to Universities, let them talk to counsellors, guidance teachers, because those are the people who really know how the system works and they will be able to advise."
A lot of students now receive their results online, but Chris re-assures students teachers are there for them in-person if they need extra support: "What you don't want is the students to feel they are all alone because they're not.
"Schools and colleges will be open over the next few days, because it's what we do, in terms of being able to give support and give guidance."
