Yorkshire Mum Wants Sexual Exploitation Taught In Schools

"I was told my daughter was at risk of being groomed for child sexual exploitation and I didn't have a clue what it was." A Yorkshire mum, whose daughter was groomed at the age of 12, is calling for better training for parents and age appropriate lessons in schools.

Sally - which isn't her real name- is part of a group that's written to the government asking for kids to be taught more about sexual exploitation.

It go so bad that out of 169 lessons - Sally's daughter missed 139.

"Police and a social worker came out and told me that she'd been seen with these gangs of men and that she was at risk of being groomed - and then that was it, her behaviour escalated from there.

"She thought he was in love with her, that he was her boyfriend, that they were going to marry, settle down and have kids and live a life like a princess. He'd call her at school and she'd go out."

She wants schools to include it in the curriculum, so children might be more aware of what's happening to them.

"They should be taught before they go to comprehensive schools, because my daughter was groomed from the first year, so if they teach them in juniors about different stuff then it'll be different.

"Train the parents as well, so they're aware of what's going off, so they know what to expect, because sometimes you're not told. I didn't know how to tackle it at all, what to do, it's kind of hard because you don't know what to expect or what her behaviour's gonna be like."
