Witness appeal launched after two cyclists seriously injured in Wetherby crash

Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after two cyclists were seriously injured as a car attempted to overtake them in Wetherby.

This happened at around 1:05pm on Sunday (August 10) on Harrogate Road, as the cyclists were near the 30mph entering the town.

A black hatchback overtook them but then pulled towards the group as it attempted to dodge an oncoming vehicle.

Two cyclists were seriously hurt, with several more suffering minor injuries following the incident.

A group of motorists stopped at the scene to offer assistance.

Anyone with information is being urged to contact West Yorkshire Police on 101.
