West Yorkshire families caught up in Manchester terror attack return, one year on

It's exactly one year since bomb exploded at a Manchester Arena concert - killing 22 people and injuring hundreds more.

Today - families and survivors from across Leeds and West Yorkshire who were there on the night are returning to the city.

A suicide bomber killed 22 people - including 14 year old Sorrell Leczkowski from Adel, Leeds Beckett student Courtney Boyle and mum Wendy Fawell from Otley.

With Wendy was her best friend Caroline Davis, who survived the attack, but was badly injured;

"People don't understand, they see me walking round and think 'Oh she's smiling, she's happy, she's fine,'

"And I'm not. I'm not fine because they don't see me when I can't do half of what I used to do,

"Used to go watch the Rhinos, used to go all over with the kids, and it's stuff now that I have to think about before I can do it."

Ariana Grande has tweeted her support and love to the victims and survivors of the attack, this morning;

Paramedic Andrew Baines was one of the first on the scene that night;

"It was my job to get there, just as quick as I can, and assist in anyway that I could,

"Basically it was like a field hospital during a war,

"It's difficult to deal with, I still have problems, I try not to think about it really."

Leeds City Council will be paying respect to the victims as well,

Hundreds of people are expected to turn out to special memorial events throughout the day. Prince William and Theresa May among those due to attend Manchester Cathedral.

They will be joined by members of the emergency services who were on the scene on the night of the attack.

There will also be a mass sing-a-long in Albert Square where 80 choirs will lend their voices to four iconic songs to, once again, bring the city together.

This afternoon York Minster will be screening the memorial service for all the victims of the attack.
