West Yorkshire Police officer charged with assault

He's due in court this week

A West Yorkshire Police officer is due in court on Friday (10th December), accused of assaulting a person known to him.

50-year-old Andrew Shaw, a detective constable based at Wakefield District, has been charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.

It's following an incident alleged to have happened on 6th June 2021.

The alleged incident took place off duty and the victim is a person known to Mr Shaw.

DC Shaw was suspended from duty at the commencement of the investigation.
