Police appeal for information following fatal collision in Wakefield
An 80-year-old man was taken to hospital before sadly passing away
West Yorkshire Police have appealed for information and witnesses after a man died following a fatal collision in Wakefield.
The incident took place in the Lupset area of the city at around 2pm on Friday afternoon (March 1st).
Officers first received reports of a crash soon after the incident took place on Dewsbury Road, on the junction with Waterton Road.
A blue Vauxhall Astra was seen to have collided with an 80-year-old man from Wakefield who was said to be crossing the road.
The man was seen to have suffered serious injuries to his head and was soon taken to hospital by emergency services.
However, despite their best efforts, the man was unable to be treated by medical professionals and he sadly passed away as a result of his injuries on Saturday (March 2nd).
West Yorkshire Police have now launched an investigation into the incident and the Major Collision and Enquiry Team are now asking for anyone who may have seen the collision take place to get in touch as soon as possible.
As well as this, those who may have been the car or the pedestrian themselves in the lead-up to the collision are also being urged to contact the force to help piece together how the incident took place.
