West Yorkshire Police have confirmed that the death of Liam Hinchliffe, who has been missing from Wakefield since December, isn't being treated as suspicious.

The 30 year old hadn't been seen since the 30 December 2022, and officers had been carrying out an extensive search to find him.

A body was recovered from the water at Stanley Ferry on Tuesday.

A file will now be prepared for the coroner, and officers are continuing to support his family.

Police have also asked the public to respect Liam's family at this time, as there has been some unhelpful and inaccurate speculation on social media.

A statement from his family, “We would like to thank the police and everyone involved in the search for Liam. We would like to ask everyone to respect our privacy at this sad and most difficult time.”
