Wakefield "all clear" after self-imposed lockdown
Wakefield coach Chris Chester has reported a clean bill of health following the Super League club's decision to impose a five-day lockdown.
Trinity took action to combat the coronavirus pandemic after two players tested positive for Covid-19 in the wake of their defeat by Huddersfield a fortnight ago and seven others were told to isolate as a result.
Wakefield went ahead with last Friday's fixture against Wigan and Chester is now preparing his side for a trip to Perpignan on Sunday to take on Catalans Dragons.
"We're all clear,'' Chester told his weekly press conference. "We've still got the guys who were stood down the week before due to track and trace but the last round of testing has all come back negative which is real positive news for everybody.
"Shutting down for five days after the game has obviously worked. It's given us a good opportunity to clean everything and review what we've been doing training wise.
"We've got 20 players who have able to train with us these last couple of days and the rest of the guys will filter back in over the weekend while we're away.''
Wakefield are chartering their own plane to enable them to fly in and out of Perpignan airport on the day and Chester is looking forward to playing in front of fans.
The Catalans were allowed a crowd of 5,000 for the visit of Wigan to Stade Gilbert Brutus three weeks ago due to a relaxation of the regulations and are preparing to open the doors to another 5,000 fans on Sunday.
"We're there and back in the day so it's going to be an early start and a late finish but we're ready,'' Chester said. "It will be nice to play in front of some fans.''
