Two teenagers are due to be sentenced today (28 October) for causing the fire that resulted in million pounds of damage to a historic mill in West Yorkshire.

Dalton Mills in Keighley, which was used for filming the likes of Peaky Blinders was destroyed in March 2022.

Meanwhile, Simon Hackney, who works next door to the mill at the Kia garage said he recalls the day like it was yesterday.

The Aftersales Manager told us: "I think the fire started round about lunch time, it engulfed the building within minutes. The fire brigade turned up to evacuate the building, we had literally ten minutes to get the cars off site."

He said businesses have been massively impacted, particularly the ones inside the mill. For the Kia garage he said: "We were shut for two days, with all the carnage and everything, it probably took about another five days to get on top and clean up."

McKenzie Mottron, 18, from Bradford, and a 17-year-old who cannot be named for legal reasons will be sentenced later today.
