Two people from West Yorkshire die in A64 car crash

Police in North Yorkshire were called to reports of a serious collision at around 11.50pm on Monday (3rd May).

Two people from West Yorkshire have died and a third has been left badly injured after a car crashed on the A64 in North Yorkshire.

On Monday 3rd May police were called to reports of a serious collision near Tadcaster in the evening.

In a statement North Yorkshire Police have said: "The vehicle had veered off the carriageway, trapping the driver and two passengers.

"Sadly, the driver – a 22-year-old man – and the rear seat passenger – a 16-year-old boy – were pronounced dead.

"The front seat passenger – a woman in her 20s – was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

"The vehicle, a Vauxhall Insignia, was later reported stolen. All three occupants are from the West Yorkshire area. No other vehicles are believed to have been involved.

"The carriageway was closed to allow emergency services to deal with the incident and a police investigation into the collision is ongoing.

"Anyone with information, including witnesses or drivers with dashcam footage, is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police."
