The parents of a 21-year-old who died in a crash in Shepley last weekend say he had a ‘heart of gold’.

Chad Matheson from Huddersfield was involved in the incident back on the 6th of July just outside the Sovereign pub.

He passed away in hospital on Friday (12 July), with police urging anyone with information to come forward.

The incident involved a black Mercedes A180 shortly after 9:30pm last Saturday (6 July) outside The Sovereign pub on Penistone Road, Shepley.

In tribute, his mum and dad said: “Our Chad had a heart of gold. His family and friends were everything to him. He was so loving, caring, and honest but a little crazy and this made him unique.

“Our family is devastated at his passing; however we remain strong, and his memories are keeping us going.”

West Yorkshire Police say the collision remains under investigation with enquiries now being conducted by the Major Collision Enquiry Team.

If anyone witnessed this collision, or the events leading up to it, they are asked to contact the Major Collision Enquiry Team via Live Chat online or by calling 101, quoting log 1830 of 6 July.

Officers are particularly keen to speak to anyone who has any relevant CCTV or dash cam footage.
