Tingley Family Fundraising Plea

Published 14th Aug 2015

A family from Tingley say they are housebound because they can't afford a large enough mobility van.

Nine-year-old Abigail Joy has an extremely rare chromosome disorder and is wheelchair bound.

Her family are trying to raise £6,000 by August 22 for a new van as she has outgrown her old car. It will give Abigail and her family the freedom to leave the home.

So far they've raised £3,000 via a JustGiving page but are still far off their target.

If they don't raise the full amount in 8 days they lose it all.

Abigail’s mum Gaynor told Radio Aire: "It’s just hard because it hurts so much moving her about, we’ve tried for two years to find the money"

"Me and my partner have worked all our lives, but we are having to beg strangers for help, Its humiliating and embarrassing."
