Three men arrested after 7,000 fireworks seized from garage in Bradford
Police were investigating reports the pyrotechnics were being illegally sold to children
Three men have been arrested in Bradford after police seized 7,000 fireworks from a garage.
Officers made the discovery on St Leonards Grove, after acting on reports the pyrotechnics were being sold illegally to children in the Ravenscliffe area.
The suspects, aged 22, 24 and 45, have been released on bail after being questioned on suspicion of possession of criminal assets.
An investigation remains ongoing.
Inspector Osman Khan, of West Yorkshire Police, said:
“The bonfire period is typically a busy time for the emergency services, so it’s great to see proactive work to protect the community is being carried out.
“We have been working with the community to raise awareness of the dangers of fireworks but also the laws around them.
“Letters have been sent out across schools in Bradford district and in areas where we typically have seen the anti-social use of fireworks.
“We will continue to work in partnership with other emergency services and the local authority to make sure that this bonfire season passes off safely.”
