A Yorkshire teenager - whose girlfriend used to hit her - has spoken to Radio Aire about her experience because she wants to stop other young people suffering the same abuse.
Sixteen year old Amelia - we've changed her name to protect her identity - says:
"I thought one day I would end up dead.... which I think I would have if I didn't leave when I did…Just one day it got too violent for me and I said to my mum, I need to get out.... so I did and I moved away"
She is now calling for more to be done in schools and colleges to teach teenagers about healthy relationships.
