Third In Leeds Admit Driving With Blurred Vision

Motorists in Leeds are risking their lives by not wearing the right glasses - with over a third admitting to driving with blurred vision.

Plus, more than half of drivers admit to wearing the wrong prescription in their glasses.

That's from the West Yorkshire charity Brake - who say it's causing around 3000 accidents every year and costing around £33 million to UK taxpayers.

Mark Bristow is from the road safety group, he says "the road is a shared space so we know there are cyclists on our roads nowadays and pedestrians crossing. They pose a potential hazard to drivers and drivers need to see what's around them when they're driving a car, so everyone needs to do their bit and ensure their eyesight is of a high standard.

"You can't put a cost on a life - your own or someone else's. Your eyes are probably one of the most important organs in your body, you use them everyday to get around - why would you not wear glasses or get your eyes tested before you get behind the wheel of a car? It's an important part of driving."
