Terriers sign winger Rolando Aarons from Newcastle United
The 25-year-old has signed a deal keeping him at Huddersfield Town until 2023, with an option to extent for another year.
Huddersfield Town has completed the signing of winger Rolando Aarons from Premier League club Newcastle United!
The 25-year-old winger joins the Terriers on a contract that runs until the summer of 2023, with the Club having the option of a further year’s extension.
Rolando arrives at the John Smith’s Stadium after a seven-year spell with the Magpies where he gained experience of playing in the Premier League, as well as game time in Italy’s Serie A and the top-flight of Czech football through loan spells.
Naturally left-footed, Rolando – who will take the number 16 shirt – adds competition on both flanks in Carlos Corberán’s First Team squad.
Huddersfield Town’s Head of Football Operations Leigh Bromby commented:
“We’re all delighted to complete the signing of Rolando.
“Having been identified through our recruitment process, it was very clear from our early conversations just how determined he is to kick-start his career. That trait in a player’s character is very important to us; we want hungry players who have something to prove.
“Obviously the deal didn’t get done as quickly as we all wanted, but Rolando has been in constant contact since the summer window and has immersed himself in everything to do with Huddersfield Town, including our style of play.
“He will need a little time to become fully acclimatised to Carlos’ demands and to get up to speed having not played competitive games for a good while, but he will be a good addition to the squad.”
Head Coach Carlos Corberán explained:
“Rolando is a winger who can play on the right and the left, which is something very positive for the squad; it is important to have players who can cover a couple of positions.
“Technically, he is aggressive in the one vs one situations, he has good balance and he also has the skills to unbalance the opponents.
“He can also help the team to defend, which is something that is very necessary and will help his fast adaptation to our squad.”
