A 13 year old girl's been forced to run away from a man who approached her in an Otley play area yesterday. Police are investigating what happened when the man in his 60s in a silver car tried to talk to the teen who was with a group of friends at 3pm just off Tealbeck Approach.

The man was described as white, aged in his sixties or seventies, with thick grey hair. He was wearing a green jacket. He was driving a silver saloon car with a spoiler on the boot. He was with a woman who was described as white, aged in her fifties or sixties, with short dark brown hair in a bob style.

Detective Sergeant Andy Cass, of Leeds District CID, said: "We would like to hear from anyone who saw this man or the vehicle in the area or who has any information that could assist the investigation.

"It is possible that there may be an explanation for what occurred and, if that was the case, I would appeal directly to the man involved to contact us.

"Officers from the local neighbourhood policing are increasing their patrols in the area to reassure the community."
