Man arrested after 'suspicious substance' discovered at house in Leeds

A man in his 60s has been re-arrested after the discovery of a 'suspicious substance' at a home in Leeds over the weekend.
Police were called to Lingmoor Street on Friday, with a cordon put in place and several neighbouring properties being evacuted.
A 62 year old man who was arrested at the scene on Friday has been rearrested on suspicion of possessing an explosive substance for an unlawful purpose.
He remains in custody.
Meanwhile, West Yorkshire Police have quashed rumours that police officers were searching local schools this morning.
The force has clarified that a car park at the Meadowfield Children’s Centre was used as a 'staging area' for searches on Lingmoor Street but social media rumours about schools are untrue.
