Osman Ali is a student at Leeds University and says his family are attempting to cross the border into Egypt to escape the conflict in Sudan.

He told us: "The trip is over 30 hours by bus and it’s really dangerous and the internet has now been cut off so I can’t even get in contact with them".

Osman's family are one of hundred of thousands of families who are evacuating their homes in Sudan.

Clashes in the African country has been ongoing between two military forces wanting power over the government for over a week.

Many civilians caught up in the violence with reports of violent looting and bombing.

Osman who’s the president of The University of Leeds Sudanese society, has helped raise over £3000 so far, which will go towards emergency medical aid.

Fellow Sudanese student Duha Hamdalla told us the money they’ve raised so far is going directly to the the Sudanese Doctors’ Trade Union and the International Hospital in Khartoum Bahri, Sudan’s capital.

The aid will help hospitals who are running critically low on basic supplies like oxygen and water.
