People in Leeds and across Yorkshire have reported their houses 'shaking' as Typhoon jets caused two sonic booms last night.

They were scrambled from RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire because of an unresponsive plane flying from Paris.

The jets broke the sound barrier to escort it to Newcastle airport.

Twitter was inundated with posts asking what caused the blasts.
