Kevin Sinfield moved closer to hitting his latest fundraising target after completing the fourth day of his '7 in 7: Together' challenge.
Sinfield is raising money and awareness for those impacted by motor neurone disease by running seven ultra marathons in seven days across seven cities or regions.
Thursday's leg saw the former Leeds Rhino head through South Yorkshire, starting at Bramall Lane, home of Sheffield United, with the route calling at the English Institute of Sport and passing Hillsborough before finishing at the University of Sheffield's Institute for Translational Neuroscience (SITraN), which has become a leading force in neurological research.
Sinfield, whose former Leeds team-mate Rob Burrow died last year having been diagnosed with the incurable and life-limiting disease in 2019, has already raised more than £10million towards research into MND and support for families affected by it.
The total for his latest challenge stood at more than £698,000 following the finish of Thursday's leg, with the event's overall target set at £777,777.
"Thank you for the support, for coming out in the rain, thank you for everything all of you have done because this isn't just a team effort," Sinfield said in a video on the MND Association official X account.
"This is everybody who's here today and everybody who has been at different routes along the path in Sheffield and before, so I salute you all. Thank you and we'll keep fighting."
On Friday, Sinfield will move to Cumbria with a run from Workington to Whitehaven.
