Sheffield United have signed Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips on loan for the rest of the season.

Philips, 30, has seen his career nose-dive since joining City from Leeds for £45million in 2022, having failed to force his way into Pep Guardiola's first-team plans.

Blades announced on their official website that they had "made a late winter transfer window move for Yorkshireman Kalvin Phillips".

The former England international has had loan spells at West Ham and Ipswich in the last two seasons and is hoping to revive his fortunes at Bramall Lane.

Phillips, whose last England appearance was off the bench in a 7-0 Euro 2024 qualifying win against Macedonia in 2023, has featured for City just once this season, as a late substitute in their Carabao Cup win at Huddersfield in September.

Midfielder Sverre Nypan has returned to City after his loan spell at Middlesbrough, where he made 21 appearances, was terminated by mutual consent, while teenage winger Joel Ndala has joined Sheffield Wednesday on loan until the end of the season after being recalled from Hull.
