A man has been found guilty of the murder of his girlfriend in Harehills, Leeds last year.

It's after police discovered the body of 44 year old Samantha Varley at a home in Brown Hill Terrance on February 12 2024, after a family member raised concerns about her.

A murder investigation found she'd suffered serious injuries in a 'sustained assault', with evidence she'd been repeatedly kicked and stamped on.

Warren Spence, who she had been in a relationship with for about six months, was identified as a suspect for her murder.

The 55 year old was arrested three days later in Scarborough and was subsequently charged.

He was found guilty today at Leeds Crown Court, where he will face sentencing on March 24.
