The RSPCA are investigating after a cat was dumped in a shoebox in Leeds, unable to walk and with a broken jaw.
The injured tabby was found by a woman on her way to work on Sunday - but sadly had to be put down due to his injuries.
The woman rang the RSPCA and inspector Jenny Bethel was able to get to the cat and take him to a vets.
Inspector Bethel thought the cat may have been a victim of a road accident but discovered he was sat in an open O’Neill shoe box with a white towel inside.
The male tabby-cat was bleeding from his mouth and was unable to move.
Inspector Bethel said: “This is an extremely upsetting situation. Someone has purposefully left the cat there and I want to know who and why.
“This poor cat was in a terrible way, he was sat in his own urine as he couldn’t move from the box.
“If anyone has any information about this cat they can ring the RSPCA inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018.”
The cat does not have a chip or collar - inspector Bethel does not think he is a stray as he was clean and friendly.
Inspector Bethel took the cat to a vets in Morley and they felt it was best he was put to sleep as he was so severely injured.
