A man who pushed a police officer over during rioting outside of a Rotherham hotel last summer has been handed a four year sentence at a Young Offenders' Institution.

19 year old Callum Bacon, of Pontefract Road in Pontefract, admitted to violent disorder and arson at Sheffield Crown Court.

He was arrested following a social media appeal, after crowds clashed with police outside the Holiday Inn Express in Manvers in August 2024.

The teenager was recorded kicking a police officer's riot shield and knocking them to the ground.

He was also seen throwing objects at police protecting the hotel and setting fire to a nearby fence.
