People travelling across West Yorkshire this Easter bank holiday are being warned the M1 and M62 will be extremely busy.

It's as the roadworks around Leeds and Wakefield must remain in place for safety reasons.

Dave Wilson, the Duty Operation Manager for National Highways said: “Wherever possible all roadworks will be removed.”

He is also advising people to plan before they travel to help prevent queues.

He said: “Check your route before you set off.

"Checking your vehicle before you set off is a key method to preventing a breakdown.

"If you do breakdown, you can contact us on any major motorway or A road.”

For travellers in wider Yorkshire, the M64 is also expected to be busy towards the East Coast.

Roadworks being removed will be gone by 6am on the 6 April and will be back in place on 11 April.
