Road Relief For Leeds?

Leeds Motorways To Receive Boost From Government

Published 1st Dec 2014

There could be relief on the roads around Leeds - thanks to our share of a ÂŁ15bn government handout being announced today. It'll be spent on upgrades for the M62, M621, M606 and M1.

Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, said, "I promised when I was in the North East that we would address this area’s economic needs for the future.

"Our long term economic plan means today we can invest ÂŁ2.3 billion into the infrastructure in the North East and Yorkshire to improve, repair and expand our roads. This is all about investing in the Northern Powerhouse we are seeking to build."

The full list of improvements on the motorway network around Leeds is:

M1 Junction 45

Improvements to junction 45 to allow increased capacity, and to support the nearby Aire Valley enterprise zone.

M1 Junctions 35A-39

Major enhancement to provide additional capacity at M62/M1 Lofthouse Interchange.

M62 Junctions 25-30
