Thousands of people will be in Leeds for the return of the AJ Bell 2022 World Triathlon Championship Series.

The city's very own Jonny Brownlee is taking part again, as competitors race in and around Roundhay Park.

Councillor Jonathon Pryor, Leeds City Council’s executive member for employment, economy, culture and education, said:

“We’re looking forward to once again hosting this stand-out event in our stunning Roundhay Park. We’re working hard with the event organisers to ensure the weekend runs smoothly and as part of that effort there will be some road closures and changes to public transport over the weekend in the areas surrounding Roundhay Park.

“Make sure you plan ahead for any journeys in this area and, if you’re able to, make sure you come along and soak in the fantastic atmosphere of the event.”

Andy Salmon, British Triathlon CEO, said:

“AJ Bell 2022 World Triathlon Championship Series Leeds is an event that our elite athletes love because it’s their home race and the crowds get fully behind the whole team to create an unparalleled atmosphere.”

“This year we’re excited that the crowd will get to see individual and mixed relay triathlon with the park fully open for spectators. I’m really looking forward to this year’s event and wish everyone there, whether taking part, volunteering, cheering on or part of the team delivering the weekend, a really amazing experience.”
