From today (12th April) non-essential shops, hairdressers, gyms, salons, libraries and outdoor attractions like zoos can re-open.

The rule of six or two households restriction will be in place at pubs and restaurants and people won't have to buy a substantial meal to have an alcoholic drink, but will have to stay seated.

David Maddison, the Centre Director at Trinity Leeds said:

"It would be terrific if we could re-open and stay open this time.

"A huge amount of work has gone on by the team, they've been in all last week, top to bottom cleaning, giving everything an extra polish, an extra cleaning.

"Fingers crossed the worst is behind, and as long as we keep supporting the government guidance, I think that the future could be very bright for retail and the high street."

Simon Fogal, one of the founders of Chow Down in Leeds said:

"We can sit nearly 400 people at once, we've used every part of the site.

"We were surprised, we sold out the first allocations and bookings within 48 hours, which was a bit of a sigh of relief that people were eager to come back and have a drink.

"It's not just us, it's across all hospitality in Leeds."

Gyms will also be allowed to open.

Russell Chowdrey, is the owner of N R Gym in Keighley, he said:

"If I could put how I am feeling about re-opening into one word, it would be ecstatic. We can't wait, this lockdown has really felt the hardest on people's health and wellbeing.

"We've been really busy dealing with new enquiries.

"There's always going to be an element of doubt and cautiousness that another lockdown might occur, but we hope our prime minister sticks to this being irreversible."
