Police are searching for a man after a string of robberies and attempted robberies in Kirklees.

He was caught on CCTV during a robbery at a newsagents in Holmfirth at around 5:10am on April 10, during which he threatened staff with an axe. He escaped with cash and cigarettes.

Police think it may be linked to an earlier attempted robbery at a post office and a convenience store on Manchester Road in Linthwaite, at around 3:40am on the same day.

The same suspect is also linked with an attempted ram raid at a convenience store in Golcar, also on April 10, at around 4am. A BMW car which had been stolen in Huddersfield was involved.

PC Josh Lowther of West Yorkshire Police said: “We are continuing to investigate four linked offences from April 10 and have issued a CCTV still of a suspect, taken from the robbery in Holmfirth.

“While the man’s face is clearly not visible it is possible someone may recognise the individual from his clothing and demeanor, and I would ask anyone who can assist our investigation to contact us."
