Police investigating a night of disorder in Harehills that culminated in a double-decker bus being destroyed in a fire say they have now made 17 arrests.
It broke out in the Leeds suburbs last Thursday (July 18) after officers were called to a child protect case that sparked the unrest.
Facial recognition has been used by detectives to identify 40 suspects, and they say they have analysed hundreds of social media posts.
Of those arrested so far, three have been charged with criminal offences, and one man has appeared in court.
Assistant Chief Constable Patrick Twiggs said: “Arresting and bringing to justice those involved in last week’s disorder in Harehills remains a key focus for the force.
“A dedicated investigation team was set up within hours of the disorder, with initial arrests taking place early on Friday morning and continuing over the weekend.
"We have promised residents that all necessary resources will be utilised to bring in all those believed to be involved, and our efforts will continue.
“I want to thank residents in Harehills for their dignified response to the offending committed by a minority on Thursday night and Friday morning."
Police also said they have held several "community meetings" since Thursday's disorder, which were "well-attended" and allowed them to understand "strength of feeling".
Officers remain in the area, and more arrests are expected in the coming days.
