Operation Keyside: 30 arrests made in Bradford County Lines crackdown
Officers have seized drugs, cash and weapons in a series of raids across the district
More than 30 people have been arrested as part of a police operation targeting County Lines drug dealing across Bradford.
Operation Keyside has seen officers in West Yorkshire team up with colleagues working for the Metropolitan Police to identify and shut down 18 drug supply networks so far.
Of the 30 arrested, 20 suspects have been charged and remanded into custody.
Large quantities of Class A drugs have been seized, alongside around £30,000 in cash and weapons including two suspected firearms, a machete, a knuckleduster and two axes.
Nine vulnerable people who were being exploited by drug dealing networks have been safeguarded.
Two men have already admitted to drugs offences and will be sentenced on July 29.
Danyaal Khan, 19, of Welbury Drive has admitted to concerned in supplying heroin and crack cocaine and possessing heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply.
Ali-Hamza Kazmi, 24, of Daisy Fields has pleaded guilty to being concerned in offer to supply heroin and crack cocaine.
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Atkinson, of West Yorkshire Police, said:
“This operation wasn’t just about arrests and seizures it was about long-term disruption and safeguarding people who are vulnerable.
“We have closely worked with partner agencies social care, education, and youth services, the operation laid the groundwork for wraparound support for those drawn into the cycle of exploitation."
“Preventative messaging was also delivered in affected communities, with schools and local services being engaged in awareness sessions about the signs of County Lines grooming and how to seek help.
"Our message to County Lines gangs is simple: We are watching, we are learning, and we will act.”
