NSPCC Asks: Is Sarah's Law Being Used Properly?

Published 30th Jul 2015

Kids are being put at risk of harm from sexual predators because police aren't making full use of 'Sarah's Law', according to the NSPCC.

The law was brought in 4 years ago following the murder of Sarah Payne and allows parents to check if someone's been convicted or suspected of child abuse.

West Yorkshire police have received 101 applications - but only released information for 29 of them.

The National Police Chiefs' Council says the figures are misleading - because in a lot of cases the police don't have any information do disclose.
