A HUGE new mural in Bradford city centre reflects the District’s rural and industrial heritage.

The giant piece of artwork on the Broadway Shopping Centre is part of BD: Walls – a City of Culture programme that has seen murals reflecting the District’s history painted across Bradford.

The Broadway mural was created by Roids, an artist with a background in graffiti art and measures around 285 square metres.

Inspired by the phrase “from the hills to mills,” the mural depicts abstract hills working their way through a weave machine and transforming into mills to celebrate the Districts rich textiles history and open green spaces.

Located next to the shopping centre’s car park, it will be a striking sight for people arriving in the city centre.

Other murals have been painted in Ravenscliffe, Buttershaw, Bingley and Little Germany.

The Broadway is just yards from Little Germany – where many of the world’s biggest wool companies were based in Bradford’s heyday.

The murals of BD:Walls have been created by a range of local, national and international artists and extend the current street art offer already available in the district focussing on the history and culture of Bradford.
