Murder investigation launched after man stabbed in Leeds

A murder investigation has been launched after a man was stabbed in Leeds.

Police say they were called to Chapeltown just before 2.40pm yesterday (02/03) afternoon.

A man had been stabbed on Hamilton Avenue - he was taken to hospital but died there from his injuries.

Police have now put more stop and search powers in place in the area.

A Police spokesperson said:

"Police have launched a murder investigation following the stabbing of a man in Chapeltown, Leeds.

"The Homicide and Major Enquiry Team would like to speak to anyone who witnessed or has information about an incident at Hamilton Avenue/ Hamilton Place today (Thursday March 2).

"Police were called by the ambulance service at 2.39pm to a report a man had been located there with serious stab injuries.

"He was taken to hospital but sadly died there from his injuries.

"Scenes are currently in place at locations including Hamilton Avenue, Spencer Place and Rossington Drive as officers conduct initial enquires into what took place.

"Anyone who has any information which could assist police enquiries is asked to contact the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team on 101 referencing police log 909 of March 2."
