Murder arrest as man dies following Hebden Bridge pub assault

A man has been re-arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of another man who was found injured outside a pub in Hebden Bridge.

Emergency services were called to Crown Street on at around 21:00BST on Saturday night (July 27), where the 52-year-old was discovered unconscious.

He was taken to hospital where he died on Monday (July 29).

Officers arrested a man in his 30s in connection with the incident, and are now questioning him on suspicion of murder.

Detective Chief Inspector Damian Roebuck of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team said: “Specially trained officers are supporting the victim's family at this time and we are making extensive enquiries into his death.

“We know that there were a lot of people in Crown Street at the time who witnessed the incident, I would appeal directly to them to come forward and help us in our investigation.

“We are also appealing to any drivers who were in the area at the time who may have dash cam footage to come forward.”
