Motorcyclist dies after collision in Upton

A motorcyclist who was seriously injured in a collision in Upton on Friday (21 June) has died of his injuries.

He has been named as Grant Anthony Watson, 29, from Pontefract.

His family have released the following photograph and tribute:

“Grant Anthony Watson, a beloved son, grandson, brother, and father. Was sadly involved in a road traffic collision on the Friday the 21st of June 2024. And passed away at the Leeds General Infirmary on the Sunday the 23rd of June 2024.

Will be deeply missed and forever loved.”

Officers from the Major Collision Enquiry Team are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the collision, which occurred on Field Lane, Upton, at the junction with Pennine View, at 11:49pm on Friday. An orange and black KTM off-road motorcycle being ridden by Mr Watson was involved in a collision with a blue Mitsubishi L200.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or the events leading up to the collision is asked to contact the Major Collision Enquiry Team via Live Chat online or by calling 101, quoting log 706 of 21 June. Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage of the vehicles involved.
