MOBO Nominations Revealed Ahead of Leeds Ceremony
Chart-topping stars such as Rita Ora, Mark Ronson and Jess Glynne face competition from grime acts Krept And Konan and JME as the 2015 Mobo nominations were announced today.
Ora, currently serving as a judge on the X Factor, received a nod for Best Video for Body On Me, which also features Chris Brown.
Ronson, who has enjoyed global success with Uptown Funk, his collaboration with Bruno Mars, is up for prizes in two categories - Best Male and Best Song.
This year's Mobo (Music Of Black Origin) Awards are dominated by London's grime and hip hop acts, with duo Krept And Konan and JME receiving four nominations each.
Singer Fka Twigs, who is dating actor Robert Pattinson, is up for three prizes. She faces Jess Glynne, Ella Eyre, Lianne La Havas and newcomer Little Simz for the Best Female accolade.
Ella told Radio Aire she's excited: "It's amazing, it's such an hour to be nominated again this year having won last year."
"I worked with Mobos for the first time ever when I was Rudimental's vocalist so that was the first award ceremony I've ever been to. So I feel like Mobos are part of my family. I'm coming off tour especially - only for the Mobos!"
Rap star Wiley will be honoured with the inaugural Paving The Way award.
The nominations were announced by former Xtra Factor host Sarah-Jane Crawford at Ronnie Scott's jazz club in London.
The 2015 Mobo Awards, now in its 20th year, will take place at Leeds' First Direct Arena on November 4, and will be broadcast live on ITV2.
"You can expect glamour, glitz and some amazing live performances," says Ben Williams, general manager of the Arena.
"It's the 20th anniversary of MOBOs, they've got an amazing track history of bring over international stars and recognising huge global talent as it's emerging. So it will be a spectacular evening.
"It's realising the ambition and the potential of the arena. We've hosted the Sports Personality of the Year and the Tour de France opneing ceremony so we have a very experienced team here. It's also the 20th anniversary of the MOBOs so they also have 20 years of experiences. Between us we'll be having production meetings which will ramp up as we get nearer the time."
