A man who killed a disabled woman from North Yorkshire and buried her body in a caravan park has had his jail sentence increased.

Dale Tarbox murdered Susan Howells, from Harrogate, in 2019.

Tarbox was jailed for 16 years in December last year - more than 12 months after Susan Howells was first reported missing.

But after complaints from solicitors, a judge has now decided to add two more years onto his minimum term - increasing it to 18.

West Yorkshire Police have welcomed the decision, saying it will help bring the justice deserved by Susan's family.

Following the outcome of the appeal, Detective Chief Inspector Vanessa Rolfe from the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team said: “We welcome this judgement by the Court of Appeal and are pleased that the decision has been made to extend the original sentence”.

“The prison sentence is reflective of the seriousness of the offence committed and the justice deserved for Susan and her family”
