Police appeal for witnesses to Headingley attack

A 40 year old man's recovering in hospital after being stabbed at Headingley in the early hours of Saturday (26th August 2017).

He was attacked outside the Sainsbury's branch in the Arndale Centre on Otley Road around 1.20 this morning.

Police closed the road for several hours, but it is now re-open, though officers will be out in force all day as investigations continue.

A 22 year old man has been charged with attempted murder and will appear before magistrates on Monday.

Detective Inspector Richard Holmes of Leeds District CID, said, "Police are still investigating this incident and, while we are not seeking anyone else in connection with it, I am still very much appealing for witnesses.

"Anyone who saw what took place or who has any information at all which could assist the investigation is asked to contact us."
