West Yorkshire Police have released a man, who was arrested on Thursday (14 September) without charge.

The force said enquiries "remain ongoing" and the matter continues to be treated as a "malicious communications offence."

Last week some schools in Leeds and Bradford issued guidance to parents and carers that pupils would be kept indoors all day, with windows and doors locked too.

However, West Yorkshire Police said they were aware that schools in other parts of country had received similar malicious emails prior to the one in Leeds and Bradford.

In a statement they said: "A man who was arrested on Thursday has since been released without charge.

"The matter continues to be treated as a malicious communications offence and enquiries remain ongoing."
