A man’s in a stable condition in hospital after a Christmas Eve shooting in Leeds. The 25 year old’s had surgery for injuries believed to be from gunshot wounds. Police are keen to trace a dark coloured vehicle which was seen near to the BP petrol station on Thornville Road at Burley just after 3 o’clock on Wednesday afternoon. Detective Chief Inspector Mark McManus, from West Yorkshire Police's Protective Services (Crime), said: “An area on Thornville Road, close to the junction with Alexandra Road in Burley, Leeds was identified as a crime scene and sealed off while forensic officers conducted a search of the area.

“We know that two vehicles met at this location, near to the BP petrol station. Officers have recovered a white coloured Audi vehicle, but we are still keen to trace a dark or black coloured hatch-back car which we believe is connected to those involved in the shooting.

“The incident continues to be treated as a targeted attack and we have a number of positive lines of enquiry that we are continuing to follow up. We appreciate the discharge of a firearm is extremely concerning, particularly for those living in the local community, but I would like to reassure residents that we do not believe there is any wider danger to the public and additional patrols by neighbourhood officers have been put in place.”
