Man Electrocuted on Leeds Railway Lines

A man is critical after being electrocuted on railway lines in Leeds.

British Transport Police were called at 3:38pm to the line near Mecca Bingo on George Street. He’s understood to be in his 20s but is yet to be identified.

A British Transport Police spokesman said the victim “was treated at the scene by paramedics from West Yorkshire Ambulance service. He has been taken to hospital suffering from severe burns where his condition has been described as critical.

“Officers are currently working to determine how the man sustained his injuries but at this stage are not treating the incident as suspicious.

“The northbound lines out of the station were closed for a period of time whilst officers dealt with the incident. They re-opened at 4.32pm.”
