One man's died and 10 people have been injured after a multi-vehicle crash which has closed the M62 in both directions.

Highways England are warning drivers to expect severe delays between Leeds and Manchester this afternoon.

The accident happened after 9.30am between junctions 21 and 20 at Milnrow earlier this morning.

Police say they found that a car had crashed with a HGV then gone through the central reservation and hit two HGVs and another car.

The driver of the car sadly died at the scene. A man and woman who were in another car have been taken to hospital with serious injuries which aren't thought to be life threatening.

Greater Manchester Police say they're working to free those stuck in the queues of traffic and are asking motorists to avoid the area.

Tailbacks are almost to junction 24 at Ainley Top and drivers are being told to expect long delays all afternoon.
