A 61 year old man has died following a collision involving a van in Leeds. Police are investigating the fatal crash on Kirkstall Road on Saturday morning.

A 30 year old man has been arrested and is being questioned on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

West Yorkshire Police have made the following appeal.....

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Leeds this morning.

At about 8.20am officers were called to Kirkstall Road, near to the junction with Viaduct Road, where a 61-year-old male pedestrian had been seriously injured in a collision with a van.

The man was taken to Leeds General Infirmary for treatment but was pronounced dead a short time later.

The driver of the van, a 30-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is currently in custody.

Sergeant Carl Quinn, of the Major Collision Enquiry Team, said: "We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident itself or who saw the circumstances leading up to it."
