Man In Court Over Majestic Fire
The man accused of starting the fire that gutted the roof of the Majestic Building in Leeds' city centre last September has appeared in court tody and denied arson. Stewart Jefferson pleaded not guilty via videolink from Armley jail, wearing a white t-shirt and looking worried the whole time. The Bramley man held his head in his hands after he entered his plea and was seen biting his nails through the whole of the appearance.
Interrupting proceeedings at Leeds Crown Court Mr Jefferson said: "I just can't believe I'm in here for nothing. Your wasting my time and your money," to which the judge replied "the jury will decide that." A trial date has been set for March 30th.
