Man charged with murder after fatal house fire in Huddersfield

Police say it happened in the early hours of Feb 14th.

A man has been charged with murder after fatal house fire in Huddersfield.

Emergency services were called to Fartown in the early hours of 14th February.

Police say 52-year-old Raimondas Vejelis died on 18th February in hospital from his injuries.

A Police statement said:

"Police investigating a fatal house fire in Fartown, Huddersfield have charged a man in connection with the incident.

"Marcin Kramarski, 42 of Hillhouse Lane, Huddersfield has been charged with murder and arson with intent to endanger life and is due to appear at Bradford Magistrates Court today (22/02).

"Officers are continuing to appeal for friends and family of the man who died to come forward.

"The Homicide and Major Enquiry Team would like to speak to any relatives of Raimondas Vejelis (52) who died in hospital following a fire at his flat on Hillhouse Lane in the early hours of February 14.

"Mr Vejelis is originally from Lithuania and died in hospital on Sunday February 18 from injuries he sustained in the fire.

"The cause of the fire remains under investigation with West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service."
