Man charged with attempted murder after woman assaulted in Leeds

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a woman was assaulted in Leeds.

Police say they were called to Otley Road in Headingley on Sunday night after reports a woman was attacked with a broken glass bottle.

A 32 year old is set to appear in court this morning.

A Police statement said:

"A man has been charged with the attempted murder of a woman in Leeds.

"Ibrahim Albashir, 32, of no fixed abode, has been charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. He has been remanded in custody to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court this morning (Tuesday, 19 March).

"It follows an incident on Sunday night (17 March) on Otley Road, Headingley, when a woman in her 30s was assaulted by a man with a broken glass bottle."
