A man has been charged with murder following the death of a woman in Leeds.

The body of 44-year-old Sam Varley was discovered by police at a house in Harehills on Monday (12 February).

Shortly after, a search began for a 54-year-old man named Warren Spence, who has now been charged.

Police have been carrying out investigations in Brown Hill Terrace

Detectives are also asking to speak to anyone who saw Sam Varley or Warren Spence in the week leading up to her death.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle said: “This investigation has been treated as a priority and we have been making extensive enquiries since the tragic discovery of Sam’s body, but we need the community to help us.

“It is important that we understand the timeline of what has taken place, and we are urging anyone who can help us understand both Sam and Warren’s movements prior to her death to please come forward.”
